A Whirlwind at Green Lake

The past weekend was roll up your sleeves for Kelland inc. and myself.

After sending out a 'help' signal last Wednesday, Bob and Rick stepped up to bat and offered to spend some time taking care of unfinished business up at the club. If you recall the interior kitchen dinette area of camp 2 was refurbished in memory of Albany Moore courtesy of his nephews, their mum and Albany's brother, Jim. The place is particularly comfortable with sofa and chair donated by S. Elliot,  and is definitely the most attractive and brightest of the 4 camps. The exterior wall had been left open to the weather, and the roof of the bathroom addition leaked for starters.

The three of us arrived just after lunch Friday in beautiful sunshine with temperatures hovering at +2c. By night time we had managed a long list of repairs and improvements to Camp 2 including re-roofing the bathroom addition with steel, jacking up and changing the support posts under same bathroom, siding the exterior of the kitchen and flashing same window.

The weather changed overnight with 2 inches of blowing snow on the ground by Saturday AM. That day was spent replacing exterior casing of two side windows, and two truck loads of gravel were shovelled into the back of Rick's pickup, then we filled three major road crevices between our gate and camp 4. Throughout the weekend 'Chainsaw Bob' was hard pressed to leave his saw idle, and around the camp and cleared a number of smaller trees as well as a major cut-back of overgrowth.

We left this AM at 6:15 but prior to leaving, Rick lifted the kitchen sink and ran a bead of silicone around the rim before we headed down the road. Much gratitude to the Kelland's for their huge contribution both in materials, time and labor.
Clik here for weekend Photo's of the Whirlwind (Best seen as a slide show).
