Book December 6 AGM NOW!

Site of new Camp 3

Quite the year for the club in terms of activity.

In the spring the 'new' apppliances arrived (fridges and stove) just in time for both opening weekend and a full house! Spring occupancy, (and fishing)while pretty full each weekend ended late June as the Zec's bilogist lowered quotas and the lake closed for summer fishing.

The club ended with a decent occupancy report. The AGM and financials are being prepared for an early December meeting December 6th. (Date and local to be finalized shortly.) Summer use appeared normal, perhaps slightly higher than previous years, with Cabin 2 getting most of the bookings.

There were several visits during the months of September and October, the most recent by myself.
A number of members (organized by Rod Armstrong) travelled to camp in early fall to do a major clean up at the site of cabin 3. Many trees affected by the earlier events of the spring were removed, burnt or buried. Rod arranged to hire a local gentleman (Alain) and his small backhoe levelled and cleaned up the site of camp 3 and some other major work to widene the road above the cabin for next summers construction. The view will be a very special one (pictured below).

Other pictures of the work done and a little fall imagery can be seen by cliking the large image above.

We are all grateful for the interest that members are showing towards our club, in particular surrounding the loss of Cabin 3. A committee of five has been working throughout the summer and fall to line up a contractor and finalize a plan for the new camp. A building plan committee has suggested a 30 x 20 floor plan maximizing the 50% increase in size from the previous camp and this has been approved by the municipality.

A detailed cost study of material has been done by Rod and Don Armstrong.

A chimney was purchased and assembled for the Vermont Casting slow burning stove donated by Bruce Macleod. Roughed in work was completed in October for this installation, with the roof exit and assembly of the sections being the last of the chimney work. Weather permitting, this may be performed this fall, or early spring. The remaining hook up should be simple, but what is 1 hour into the woods?

The dock at cabin 1 has been floated into the beach area where we hope to also store the glass boats.

The docks at number 2 will remain where they are with the finger dock assembly being detached and tied alongside the main dock to prevent damage from the ice.

Pierre Brunet has donated the front door pictured here for cabin 3. We will store it at his Saint-Donat chalet and deliver when needed.

The AGM is an important one. Members wishing to return in 2015 should have their dues in to the treasurer by the end of the month of December.

Unless decided otherwise at the AGM fees will remain at $500 annually and membership numbers at 28.

Without the use of cabin 3 until late summer or even 2016, members may be restricted from bringing many guests. It is important to get your reservations in along with the dues.
